I wonder, who would spend a significant amount on any phonostage that did not offer a coherent, easily-repeatable variety of playback curves?
Hm, I am not sure that I agree with it. The multi-curved phonostages, with re...

Hello Romy
This is my first post. Did you take courses in electronics and mechanical engineering or have you learned yourself outside of a structured environment? I am very interested to become proficient in working on/modifying my own electronics. ...

OK, here are some follow up thoughts after the completion of the project. I am sure I will burn it for a month or so. I think everything will be fine, I do not expect any issuers technical or sonic. The way how the entrance to the corrector done it i...

Paul, I am not sure what VTA and anything else has to do with phonostage. The VTA is not a characteristic of Sound but a property of a given cartridge. Sine I it set and the VTF is not changed I do not change VTA. I do not use VTA to change sound, I ...

No, VTA is not in and of itself a characteristic of Sound; but in my own system the stylus' vertical tracking/rake angle is not something that results in the same sound no matter where I put it. In fact, even small chan...

The news just come inhttp://www.amr-audio.co.uk/html/pr_ph77.htmlThorsten use to tell me that his ambitions phonostage project will be coming through in fall of 2008. Well, it is late but it is there: the AMR announced their new PH-77 Phono Equal...

Recently I was visiting a guy who has Alnic H-1500 LCR Phono stage. I actually had a chance to open it up and to inspect it.

Marc Mickelson published his new infomercial
about Lamm LP1 phonostage. I do not use Lamm products
but as former Lamm product user I naturally keep looking what Lamm does. http://www.theaudiobeat.com/equipment/lamm_lp1_signature.htm

Thanks, Gregm.
My primary concern with all those IC-based phonostages is that they are thin like hell. The audio freaks like it, I do not. I never heard the DACT CT-100 and can not speculate. I have seen this one:
Interesting. I remember getting low contrast levels when using the asa 32 film (I think it was pan-x), but huge grey scales. Sometimes I shot in tri-x just to add drama. In the end though, my best prints were ...

It'll is truly entertaining. I received today this Chinese phonostage, which turned out has a name, a box, a manual and believe you or not but the phonostage itself! It calls Yaion MS12B. Did I forget to tell that it cost $170?
Actually I am very pl...
I was hoping to get some specifics from you when looking at a BEST "impedance match" ~ 1:1 with the cart in use, and if you had figured out some ball-park value which then can be used as point of departure for listening test.[/quo...

Sine I read about the new Orion phonostage I was thinking about the whole story behind it. The whole Constellation Audio as the company that started 2-3 years back strike me as some kind of combined efforts of a group of dealer and distributors...

...This feeling of lost phonostage really poisons my entire getting new house ceremony and I am very upset…Is it God punished me for the overly ambitions name of the phonostage – “The End of Life Phonostage” or is it som...
Well, they got John Curl's name on it, and it's "machined from a billit", 2-chasses, yadda, yadda. It also features the "new wave" balanced/presumed- differential topology and a "mystery"/proprietary (presumed discrete) firs...
I play a lot of LP recently and last night I noted that sound was quite bad. It was like a bad electricity day only atop of it sound has some kind of odd digitalization atop of everything. Of course I was blaming the PurePo...

Lamm introduces a new product, the LP1 Signature phonostage. Vladimir was planning to do it for a long time as his parley into “reference” series and after his from my point of view failure with LL2 phonostage.
The new LP1 Signature phonostage...

I needed to make a very minor grounding correction in my “End of Life" Phonostage that make me to take it off the system and open it up. I realized that I never made a picture of it when it was done. As I said before - after 6 month of service I am h...

Ok, what would believe…. but I am in needs to get another phonostage. Te older I become the lazier I become and there is no way I would switch those cables form tonearms again. Also, each time I switch the cables the unused cables drops behind my rac...

I decided to make this post in this thread (you are at a second page of the thread) about the “second-type” phonostage. My needs for a Santa’s bring me a nice “second-type” phonostage really got stronger. If you remember my 7788-7721 tow stages,...

I spent a bigger part of day today to finish the “End of Life" Phonostage, there were many things to do but it is now over. Done! Complete! Amen! I it closed up and sat in it’s permanent place.
A few observations looking back. First, I spent a LOT...

I run both of my Reference and Daily tonearms into my “End of Life Phonostage”. As I told I do not know any way to commutate signals at phono level signal and I just re-plug the phono cables at the phonostage’s input. I have no problem with that ...
Hm, I took the anti-RIAA signal converted and run CD player into the phonostage. The RIAA curve was fine and the effect of the HF volume and frequency-depended quantization did not expose itself. So, it looks like the p...
